Monthly Sound Bath Experience

Join Sound Practitioner and Reiki Master, Genevieve Deely, for a unique meditative experience for adults using the healing sounds of crystal singing bowls to soothe the mind, body and soul. A sound bath is a meditative experience allowing those in attendance to be immersed in calming and healing sound waves. As half of the human body is made up of water and water is an excellent conductor of sound, there is very little effort on your part to experience the healing effects of sound.
Sound Baths are experiences that may help reduce stress of all kinds and induce deeper connection to one’s inner world. Genevieve will lead participants through this unique experience using the healing sounds of crystal singing bowls and chanting to soothe the mind, body and soul.
Participants can be in a seated position or lying down. If you choose to lie down, it is most important you bring a yoga mat, blanket and pillow to be comfortable during the hour.
Classes operate on a donation basis. Please consider giving up to $10 a class to go directly to the program leader (cash/check/venmo).
Please Note – Priority is given to Mendham Township Residents. Please register for each session separately.

Lincoln’s Quest for Peace

Once again, the NJCWRT presents its Civil War LegalPresentation by three prestigious attorneys, all of whom are NJCWRT members. With the Civil War raging on, with thousands of casualties and vast destruction of property, attempts were made to achieve peace and end the conflict. This program will raise the issues as presented by both sides:
1. The Legal and Constitutional Context
2. The 1861 Peace Conference and Initiatives3. The 1865 Hampton Roads Peace Conference
4. Assessment of Reasons Why Peace Efforts Failed/ Lessons Learned
About the Presenters
John C. (“Jay”) Maloney, Jr. is a trial lawyer and complex commercial litigation attorney at a Morristown law firm who practices in both New Jersey and New York. He has been studying and lecturing on the Civil War and constitutional history for over fifty years. He and his wife live in Morris Plains, New Jersey.
This program is especially recommending that this program be called to the attention of student in Social Studies classes, and obviously students interested in law.

Art Around The World: The Frick Collection

Take a trip to the Upper East Side with art historian, Jay Schuck, as he leads a virtual tour through the galleries of the Frick Collection. The newly renovated Frick Collection is an elegant museum in NYC housed in the former mansion of industrialist Henry Clay Frick. It features European Old Master paintings, sculpture and decorative arts, with works by Titian, Goya, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Turner. The museum is known for its intimate, domestic setting and exceptional quality of works. Highlights include Rembrandt‘s “The Polish Rider”, Vermeer’s “Officer and Laughing Girl” and “The Bullfight” by Edouard Manet.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Christmas Tree: A Holiday Tradition
Mallory Mortillaro serves as the Curator of Collections for the Hartley Dodge Foundation in Madison, N.J. While she was cataloging the artwork housed inside of the Hartley Dodge Memorial, she uncovered a masterpiece that had been lost to the art world since the 1930’s. After a year of research, the piece was authenticated as an official work by Auguste Rodin. In addition, Mallory is an art historian and educator. She has ten years of teaching experience and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. She studied at Drew University. Mallory resides in New Jersey with her husband and daughter.

Calling all cooks! Join our monthly cooking club where each month a different culinary item will be the theme. Using that item/theme of the month, participants will find and make a recipe of their choice at home. Then bring the recipe and the food item (if desired) to our meeting to discuss, share and taste. Back by Popular Demand! This month we will have a festive Cookie/Dessert Exchange. To participate in the exchange, please bring a batch of cookies/dessert of your choice and the recipe you followed.

It’s back—our most popular craft session of the year—boxwood topiaries! Join us for a festive, hands-on workshop where you’ll create a beautiful topiary bursting with color.
This year, we’re adding a fun sustainable twist! If you have a pot from a previous year—or ornaments and mini lights you no longer need—bring them along (either to the event or drop them off at the library beforehand). We’ll add them to our shared collection. Even if they’re not quite your style anymore, they might be perfect for someone else!
When you sign up, please let us know if you’ll be bringing your own pot. It should be no more than 4" in diameter.
We can’t wait to craft, reuse, and celebrate with you!
